halloween jammy jams

thursday, october 29th, 10pm - 2am
always free, Beauty Bar, 2299 mission st at 19th

Dear friends,

A very busy week for L/S...

Thursday, our flagship night continues to rock Zombie Flash Mobs and tours of Japanese exchange students just learning to dance, and, oh, YOU! Raul and I will bust out few Halloween jams to prep you for...

...Friday, the return of ERRRLY! our monthly happy hour party and simply the easiest way to get drunk and dance on Friday without all the mess of a Friday night. We start at 6pm and our extra special guest djs are the tagteam of Helen J and Blue F. Yup, it was one of those "if you do it, I'll do it" situations, and they both said, 'Yes!" They're excited to rock the decks just for you. I'm sure some of you will road test you costumes and see if they are drink and dance worthy, which preps you for...

...SATURDAY. Our big gig. HALLOWEEN. You've put your costume together and are ready to party. Well, party with us. Come see me in my sexy priest cosutume. Most of you have bought your ticket. If you haven't, buy it here:

http://www.stubmatic.com/bottomofthehill/event/1914

There are few tickets left. If it doesn't sell out before Saturday night, it surely will that night. Don't be caught waiting in line outside just to find out they sold the last ticket. I may be able to pull you over the fence in the back, but let's not go that far. Loquat, and openers, Love Like Fire will provide the live indie musics for the evening.

Then Greg, Raul, and I (collectively Fallout vs. Life/Style) along with you will DESTROY the dance floor.

I know I'll see you at one of these nights, maybe two, and some of you at at all three. It's been a successful year for us. And mostly it's because of you. THANK YOU!

Love, Ts

Field Trip to Paul Smith for the The Sartorialist's / Scott Schuman's Book Signing Event

Last night Ts, Amedee, Seth, Adam and I attended The Sartorialist's book signing at the Paul Smith store in Union Square. I love it when shit like this happens because everyone gets so excited and puts on their best faces and outfits, in this case. Thanks to my web designer buddies from work, we had a great spot in a line that eventually wrapped around the block. I loved it when darling people we knew walked by on their way to the back of the line - so high school, i know, but it's the simple things, really!

Anyway, the fun was all in waiting with friends and people watching because I never have anything to say to authors at book signings and was mortified when SS actually tried to talk to me! I almost wished he would have just kept his head down like Richard Avedon when i went to his book signing years ago.

Despite that, it was a perfect evening.

xoxo

Keep on Keepin' On

Been back for a little over 3 weeks and still dreaming in vibrant Mexican technicolor. Although terribly missing the family and friends south of the Rio Bravo, it's good to be back. Back to the drums and the decks. Back to my bed and my books. Back to the comfort of having rad pals and lots of creative work ahead. Let's keep on keepin' on.

Dear friends,

Well, we are firmly in Fall now.  It was nice that Summer tried to hold it's death grip on our lovely City until last Saturday.  L/S last week once again proved to be one of the best nights in town.  Always solid.  The crowd danced a little later than usual.  I just had to warm them up a little more than usual, but then again that's why I'm there.  Lots of new faces next week, but it was great to see Scott C. who was in town for the Brutal Legend launch and APE.  Actually, I think Rok dragged him out.

Saturday I maxed out with Buttons, MK and Steve for way too much food: fried eggs, bacon, fried toast, lots of coffee, a dozen oysters, a moresque, two bottles of champagne, huckleberry ice cream, pizza, etc.  This happened mostly at Zuni on a perfect afternoon.  All of this before Crajy Amazing's Thanksgiving (YES!) dinner where I tested the limits of my stomach by too much drink, too much turkey, too much ham, too much chorizo stuffing, too much gobbler cobbler (!), drenched in cranberry and gravy, and, oh, possibly the best apple pie I've tasted in years.

This week Raul & I soldier on.  We've repacked our bags and have selected a few new jams for your enjoyment.  Maybe some Davila 666, perhaps?  Swing on by for a dance and drink x 10.  Bring your friends; we'd love to meet them.

Lastly, Halloween is nearly upon us.  Make sure you have your costume and get your ticket to our gig at Bottom of the Hill that night.  In addition to beautiful choons provided by local heroes, Loquat, and openers, Love Like Fire, Greg, Raul, and I (collectively Fallout vs. Life/Style) are amassing our stockpile of special dance floor fillers for the night to ensure you dance nonstop.

*** MAKE SURE TO BUY YOUR TICKET SOON HERE: http://www.stubmatic.com/bottomofthehill/event/1914 ***

Tickets are selling briskly and if you are planning on coming make sure you can get in other than by hopping the fence in backyard like we did in 1995 for that Elastica show.  Yeah, I totally made out with Donna Matthews.  I think she was hot back then...

Color black and white descending the stairs at Jill Sander in NYC

I took this shot on Sept. 10, 2009, at Jill Sander's new space near Opening Ceremony during Fashion's Night Out.  The over-crowded party at Opening Ceremony annoyed me to no end despite all the pluses going for it and pushed us into Jill Sander's party across the street which was urbane, sophisticated, comfortable, and fun.  Champagne and great people don't hurt either.

Dear friends,

Last week couldn't have made me happier.  Lots of familiar faces I haven't seen in a while mingling amongst the new regulars.  A great mix of fun people just going for it and and having a rad time.  Also, many Libras out in full force celebrating birthdays.  Thanks for making me smile.  I took that feeling to San Leandro and Alameda last Friday and ate way too much food with MK at Best Burger (wtf ftw, pastrami swiss burgers and chili cheese fries!!!).  BTW ladies, she just launched her new, ahem, lifestyle blog - LITTLE MAGAZINE - last week.  Check it out regularly for all the awesomeness and look out for a special mix we will be doing for the 'Musical Chairs' section.  This week features a hip-hop mix by Amaze 88.

Today, like everyone else, I woke up to the sound of rain.  I turned on the ghetto-ness that is KRON 4 to see news that heavy rains are causing the end of the world.  Then I proceeded to get ready for work by putting on a brown plaid suit and pink plaid shirt topped by a pork pie hat, macintosh, and a paisley rolled umbrella.  Sure I like to get dressed up, but tonight I'm also going to HOPR for dinner with two of my favoritist people - Buttons & Stacypants - for beef and martinis (cf. last week's email).

Well, that's it for now.  See you on Thursday.  As always, come on by, drink, dance, etc.  I owe you a drink or two.  Let me get them for you.

Also, a special birthday shout out to Miss Cragy Amajing.  You're one of my dearest friends; and I heart you like a sister.

Love, Ts

ps. And don't forget...  Halloween is coming up fast.  Greg, Raul, and I dj party jams while you dance to rad music by Loquat and Love Like Fire and win costume contests.  Get a ticket before it sells out!  You may buy on-line here : http://www.stubmatic.com/bottomofthehill/event/1914.

Dear friends,

Raul is back...  Now, Oddz'N'Endz rejoins us for her regular Thursday slot.  (She dj's every second Thursday of the month with us.)  She's excited to dj for you again and play some new found jams - both old and new.  Oh yeah, and maybe a Phoenix remix!

Last week was super dope.  My apologies for getting drunk so early, snatching drinks out of your hand, and drinking those, too.  (Clay!)  Make me do it again this week.

And don't forget...  Halloween is coming up fast.  I need a costume.  You need a costume.  We'll all party at the Bottom of the HillGreg, Raul, and I dj party jams while you dance to rad music by Loquat and Love Like Fire and win costume contests.  Get a ticket before it sells out!  You may buy on-line here : http://www.stubmatic.com/bottomofthehill/event/1914.

Well that's it for now.  Let's hang out soon if we can.  I need a steak and a gibson.  Maybe you'd like to join me for one.
