Dear friends,
Well... I'm halfway through my events for the week. I've got a couple more to go.
Tonite is Errrly! which back for it's monthly installment at Beauty Bar. You all know how fun it is so I don't need to talk about that per se. What I will say is that we are super stoked to have Clay Stafford spin some of his favorites for us. This is his debut dj gig here or anywhere for that matter. Also, we are honored to have Amedee Ito return for another guest set. She has some of the best original vinyl out there and has no problem playing her collection for your party enjoyment.
*** On SUNDAY, I dj at monthly gig at Laszlo, SUPERROCK. I start at 9p and go till close. This is the night where I play music w guitars. Maybe you can dance to it may you can't. That isn't the point. Think the Kinks, girl groups, Bob Seger, Sonic Youth, 60's soul, The Creation, Arcade Fire, The Smiths, Steely Dan, Phoenix, Can, Scorpions, America, Girls, Interpol, Eddie Money, Neil Diamond, The Dirtbombs, Phoenix, The Jam, etc. Bonus, if you bring a 45 that fits somewhere in that mix, I WILL play it. Also, I'll be playing 'Suspiria' for you to watch. ***

beauty bar, 2299 mission st at 19th
Dear friends,
Last week it seemed like it was a ghost town out there with all the rain and cold out there. Thanks to those of you who broke out and danced and got drunk at L/S and put up with the obnoxious Australian woman who bugged the hell out of everyone before she got kicked out. Unfortunately, Kirk was sick that night and was unable to make it out, but he'll be back very soon. Thursday continues to be my favorite night of the week, and it's all because of you.
This week is the busy week for L/S. Lots to choose from...
FIRST: On Wednesday, I'm helping put on a photography show at my work which has it's opening from 6p-8p at my work. The beautiful landscapes that will be exhibited are by Matthew Shallenberger. Unframed prints will be for sale for $60/each. Framed prints will be available, too. There will be drinks and food on hand.
SECOND: On Thursday, the Life/Style soul train continues with a return appearance by Anthony Gordon - local papparazzo and my favorite bass player in Loquat. Besides his rad music selections, it always seems to be a particularly debaucherous night out when he is involved. In other words, GOOD TIMES! Maybe he'll preview some new Loquat jams, perhaps?
THIRD: On Friday from 6p-10p at the Beauty Bar, thee best happy hour in SF returns for it's monthly appearance. One of the world's finest dj's, Amedee Ito, slays the dance floor again with all the original vinyl you wish you had. If you haven't heard her dj at her gig at the Casanova, now is your chance. Making his debut behind the decks... Dj Clay Stafford. Yup, drink a lot, dance to rad choons. I'm guessing you might hear some Eurythmics and Holy Ghost and America and etc. Sounds like an epic start to the weekend.
THE LAST: On Sunday, I dj at my monthly gig at Laszlo, SUPERROCK. I start at 9p and go till close. This is the night where I play music w guitars. Maybe you can dance to it; maybe you can't. That isn't the point. Think the Kinks, Bob Seger, Sonic Youth, The Creation, Arcade Fire, The Smiths, early rock-n-roll, Steely Dan, Magnetic Fields, Can, Scorpions, Bauhaus, America, Girls, Interpol, Eddie Money, Neil Diamond, The Dirtbombs, Phoenix, The Jam, etc. Bonus, if you bring a 45 that fits somewhere in that mix, I WILL play it. Also, I'll be playing 'Suspiria' for you to watch.
So... That's a lot to do. Join me at one, some or all of these events. There will be even more to come in February. And if you ever have the chance to go to the Face or Sweaterfunk parties, you should go to those, too. Why? Because they are RAD.
love, Ts

Dear friends,
A lot of you are still recovering from the holidays, are now being brought down by the weather, and/or just now getting over colds and/or flu. I feel like we are going to bust out of this soon. myself? i'm no different. i feel like i've been cooped up in my house forever.
this thursday, our dear friend kirk returns to the decks. actually don't think of it as a return. i've talked to him about this, and he's now part of our regular rotation. he'll be appearing with us every other month. he's simply the best at whatever he does. he'll be bringing some of his two step, boogie and modern soul favorites along with dance favorites across all genres. be prepared to dance the night away.
in regards to last week, oddz positively destroyed the dance floor bringing back her distinctive sound to the beauty bar. thanks again to her and you for making L/S so successful.

AND feb.18 will be our 1 year anniversary party. it will feature the some of the L/S allstars, new buttons, cupcakes, etc. mark your calendars.

I would like to get to know you.
the first time i had the opportunity to see st. etienne live, listening to the music picked out by bob and pete was just as exciting as seeing them perform their own music live. one track in particular by spanky & our gang stood out. since then, it's kind of been my theme song. for ages, it was always the first track i played when i dj'd anywhere (but especially at fanclub) regardless of what kind of club it was. -Ts

beauty bar, 2299 mission st at 19th
Dear friends,
The holidays were sort of break for us. Sure, we didn't dj all that much, but we were out and about. Travelling, eating lots of delicious food, indulging spa treatments, riding bikes, watching movies, and hanging out with you. Actually you were there for a lot of that, too. It was a welcome break, but now we're feeling antsy and eager to spin music for you (as one of SFBG's reigning 2009 Favorite DJs in the Bay)!
So... come on down for the first L/S of the year. We're ready to drink and dance with you. See you this Thursday night.
Your friend, Ts

Michel Piccoli is one of my Favorites
i heart michel piccoli. anyone who can be in movies ranging from 'contempt' by jean luc godard to 'mauvais sang' by leos carax to 'diabolik' by mario bava must be a hero in my book. -Ts
